SECTION 3: CLAMPING FORCE TEST
Test Procedure:
- A fully assembled concrete tie with two short pieces of rail shall be arranged on the both rail seats.
- A load shall gradually be applied to lift up the rail until a metal shim of 0.1O mm can be extracted under the rail 9r rail pad. Record the load.
- The toe loads shall then be measured by divided the rail lifting load by 2. Carry out the same manner above for another rail seat.
- The clamping force for one rail seat is the average of both rail lifting loads.
Acceptance Criteria:
The assembly shall be considered satisfactory when the calculated clamping force per rail seat is within the range of 17 - 19 kN.
