Fastener Insert Resistance

 

SECTION 4: Fastener Insert Resistance (Pull - out) Test

 

Test Procedure:

1. A fully assembled concrete tie with a short piece of rail shall be arranged. Attach the clamping device to gripping the insert to pull the insert up with hydraulic jack.
2. Applied load gradually to pull the insert up until the load of 55 kN is reach and held for 3 minutes or insert move up.

 

Acceptance Criteria:

The insert shall be considered satisfactory if the shoulder can sustain the pull-out force of not less than 55 kN after 3 minutes without movement or cracking of concrete.
